About The Davenport Collection:
The Davenport Collection began in December of 2011 as the brainchild of singer/songwriter Lewis Borthwick. Still relatively young, the label is growing at an impressive rate – part due to Borthwick’s relentless efforts, part to the recent renaissance of folk music championed by the likes of Mumford and Sons, Laura Marling and Johnny Flynn.

Starting as a promotional platform, The Davenport Collection showcased the best of little-known and emerging talent online, creating a unique ‘collection’ of artists for viewers to discover. The website then evolved to provide exclusive sessions with their favourite artists; the first of these being The Joker And The Thief; a heavy Jazz 'n' Blues three piece that create music with the kind of quality The Davenport Collection has expected from all of its affiliates.

Reaching out to an even bigger audience, The Davenport Collection went on to develop their own personal radio show with Shoreditch Radio; with Lewis at the helm, the show featured music from the website, alongside live sessions and interviews with visiting artists which have since included Marcus Foster.

In May 2012, the Davenport Collection put on their first event in the up and coming area of Dalston, in order to even better connect their audience with the artists they were so excited about. With such a great response to the first night, The Davenport Collection soon started getting more venues involved; a regular night held in one of the private rooms of the Camden head lets artists play in an intimate setting to a packed out room of music lovers, while nights in the Wheelbarrow draw in new crowds with headliners such as the Tin Can 44’s getting people on to the dance floor.

Looking forward, the company is set to continue growing and building on its success, with new creative inputs from Oliver Muto (Illustrator/Artist) and Charlie Sarsfield (Photo/Videographer), the small, but highly talented team have been brainstorming new ideas to be carried out within the new year, which includes the expansion of The Davenport Collection into a record label & distribution service and the planning of a number of alternative and exciting events throughout the United Kingdom.
